India and Bhutan reviewed the entire spectrum of their bilateral defence ties during talks between visiting Bhutan Army Chief Operations Officer Lt General Batoo Tshering and Army Chief General Manoj Pande in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"General Manoj Pande #COAS extended a warm welcome to Lieutenant General Batoo Tshering, Chief Operations Officer, Royal Bhutan Army and discussed ways to strengthen the #DefenceCooperation between the two Armies,"
During the meeting, they exchanged views on the current global situation and security perspectives in addition to discussing measures for enhancing defence cooperation between both armies, said India's Ministry of Defence.
The visiting Bhutanese General also called on the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Vice Chief of Army Staff, Defence Secretary and other senior military officers.
"The visit will further enhance and strengthen the already existing friendship and cooperation between the Indian Armed Forces and the Royal Bhutan Army," India's Ministry of Defence said.
Lt Gen Tshering's visit to India from October 28- November 2, came at an invitation by General Pande when he toured Bhutan in July this year.
During his visit, General Pande had called on Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on Sunday and discussed various aspects of enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Beginning his visit, the Chief of the Royal Bhutan Army inspected the passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai on October 29. The parade witnessed the commissioning of 151 male cadets, 35 female cadets, and 36 cadets from friendly foreign nations as officers.
Later, on November 1, Lt Gen Tshering presented a wreath at the National War Memorial and was honoured with a ceremonial guard of honour in New Delhi's South Block.
