Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 90th Interpol General Assembly on October 18, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Monday. The event will be held in New Delhi from October 18 to 21.

Delegations from 195 INTERPOL member nations, including ministers, country police chiefs, heads of national central bureaus, and senior police personnel, will attend the meeting.

The General Assembly, INTERPOL's highest governing body, convenes once a year to make significant decisions on how the organisation will operate. "The INTERPOL General Assembly meeting is taking place in India after a gap of about 25 years – it was last held in 1997," the PMO noted.

India's bid to hold the Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi in 2022 in conjunction with the country's 75th anniversary of independence was accepted by the General Assembly by overwhelming majority.

"The event provides an opportunity to showcase best practices in India’s law and order system to the entire world," the PMO said.

India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah, INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, Secretary General Jurgen Stock, and CBI Director will be present at this event. Home Minister Shah will be give the valedictory address.
