INS Sumedha is on its way to Perth, Australia to mark India's 75th Independence Day
Indian Navy's INS Sumedha is visiting Port Tanjung Benoa in Bali from August 4-6 as part of its Long Range Deployment in the South Eastern Indian Ocean. The ship is on its way to Perth, Australia to coincide with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities to mark India's 75th Independence Day.
The official Twitter account of the Consulate General of India in Bali informed about the arrival of INS Sumedha. Taking to Twitter, they shared several images of the welcome ceremony with a caption that said, "Welcome ceremony for Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sumedha at Benoa Harbour on Goodwill Visit to Bali"
The goal of the trip to Bali is to strengthen bilateral ties, expand military cooperation, and enhance communication with the Indonesian Navy. The ship's crew will communicate professionally, engage in cross-deck socializing, and participate in sporting events with their Indonesian Navy counterparts while she is docked in Bali.
On August 2, the ship participated in a maritime partnership exercise with KRI Sultan Hasanuddin, an Indonesian Navy Sigma class corvette, before entering Bali.
The exercise, which featured tactical manoeuvres, communication techniques, and seamanship evolutions, gave participants the chance to exchange professional insights and improve maritime cooperation between the two fleets.
An indigenously constructed Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel, INS Sumedha is used for a variety of tasks both independently and in support of fleet operations. She is a part of the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy, which is stationed in Visakhapatnam, and she is operated by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
