Digital, health, and green growth would drive the ASEAN-India partnership, EAM Jaishankar said
India and the ASEAN have strong convergence on the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine and Myanmar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday.
In comments after attending the ASEAN-India ministerial meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, EAM Jaishankar also referred to convergece on issues like UNCLOS, Connectivity, Covid-19, Terrorism, and Cyber Security.
He also pointed out that digital, health, agricture education and green growth would drive the ASEAN-India partnership.
"A productive ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers' Meeting at Phnom Penh. Thank Singapore FM @VivianBala and ASEAN colleagues for a good discussion. Strong convergence on Indo-Pacific, UNCLOS, Connectivity, Covid-19, Terrorism, Cyber Security, Ukraine and Myanmar," EAM Jaishankar tweeted after the tweeted after the meeting.
"Digital, health, agriculture education and green growth will drive our partnership. Act East unfolds steadily," he added.
EAM Jaishankar also held a series of meetings with his counterparts from ASEAN nations on the sidelines, including Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Bala, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, and Foreign Minister Haji Erywan of Brunei.
"ASEAN-India Meetings provide opportunities to catch up with valued colleagues and friends. Continued conversations with FM Retno Marsudi of Indonesia, FM Dato Haji Erywan of Brunei and FM @VivianBala of Singapore," EAM Jaishankar said on Twitter.
ASEAN-India dialogue relations started with the establishment of sectoral partnership in 1992 which graduated to full dialogue partnership in December 1995, Summit level Partnership in 2002, and Strategic partnership in 2012.
