The consignment includes critical life-saving and anti-cancer drugs
Amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, India has intensified its humanitarian assistance to Palestine, dispatching a second major shipment of 30 tonnes of essential medical supplies, including critical life-saving and anti-cancer drugs.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the shipment on Tuesday (October 29, 2024), with Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal sharing the development on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. “India’s support to the people of Palestine continues. Extending humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine, India sends 30 tons of medical supplies comprising essential life-saving and anti-cancer drugs to Palestine,” he said.

The latest dispatch builds on India’s consistent humanitarian outreach, as the MEA had sent a previous 30-tonne consignment on October 22, 2024, comprising medicine, food, and high-energy biscuits for Palestinian civilians. This initial batch included a range of medical supplies, surgical items, and general health products to provide comprehensive support, particularly amid reports on deteriorating living conditions in Gaza.

India has long maintained a balanced position on the Israel-Palestine issue, consistently advocating for a two-state solution as a path to sustainable peace. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first global leaders to publicly condemn the terror attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, while also expressing concern for the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

India’s recent aid to Palestine is part of a broader humanitarian initiative to support civilians affected by the current crisis in West Asia. Alongside assistance to Palestine, India dispatched 11 tonnes of medical supplies to Lebanon on October 18, 2024, with plans to provide a total of 33 tonnes of aid to the country, responding to mounting casualties and infrastructure damage due to conflict in southern Lebanon.

India’s humanitarian actions come at a time of critical need, supporting both immediate medical care and reinforcing global diplomatic efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis. Through its consistent aid efforts, India affirms its position as a responsible international partner, responding to humanitarian needs and advocating for constructive dialogue and reconciliation in the Middle East.
