The Indian naval ship carried out a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance of Mauritius
Continuing with its outreach to build bridges of friendship in the region, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayna completed a successful visit to Mauritius on June 22, 2024.
The two-day visit to Port Louis witnessed participation of Indian Navy and Mauritius National Coast Guard personnel in Joint Yoga session on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.
After departure from Port Louis, INS Sunayna proceeded on a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance of Mauritius. Sea riders from MNCG embarked onboard ship for training exchanges.
INS Sunayna had visited Seychelles earlier this month.
During the ship's visit to Mauritius, Commanding Officer INS Sunayna Cdr Prabhat Ranjan Mishra called on the Indian High Commissioner K Nandini Singla, and Commissioner of Police, MPF Anil K Dip. The interaction highlighted operational engagement and confidence building measures on various aspects of maritime security.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the ship took part in a friendly volleyball match with the Mauritius Coast Guard. In an outreach programme held at Gayasingh Ashram at Port Louis, medical screening of elderly and distribution of provisions were undertaken extending a helping hand to the community. The ship was open to visitors which saw more than 200 guests onboard. A guided tour of the ship along with ship's capabilities were briefed to the visitors.
INS Sunayna earlier visited Port Victoria in Seychelles on June 15, 2024 in a significant move aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation and security between the Indian Navy and the Seychelles Coast Guard.
During its stay in Seychelles, INS Sunayna engaged in joint Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) surveillance with the Seychelles Coast Guard. This joint operation eas aimed at maintaining maritime security and combating challenges such as illegal fishing, smuggling, and piracy.
