This initiative is part of a broader effort to support High-Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) in Nepal
In a marked development aimed at improving educational infrastructure in Nepal, the newly constructed school buildings of Shree Bhadrakali Secondary School, located Pokhara, Kaski District, were officially inaugurated on Wednesday (February 14, 2024).

The construction of these school buildings was made possible through a generous financial assistance of NRs. 20.94 million provided by the Government of India under the umbrella of the 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation'. This initiative is part of a broader effort to support high-impact community development projects (HICDP) in Nepal, aimed at strengthening local infrastructure and community services.

The inauguration ceremony was held on the occasion of the school's 72nd anniversary and Parent’s Day, marking a new chapter in its illustrious history.

The event was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhana Raj Acharya and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu Prasanna Shrivastava. The event was attended by a host of public representatives, government officials, social workers, school management representatives, teachers, parents, and students, all gathered to witness this momentous occasion.

Shree Bhadrakali Secondary School has been serving the community since its establishment in 1951. Originally started as a primary school with the support of Indian financial assistance, it has grown into a higher secondary institution providing education from Play Group to 12th Standard. The school, notable for its majority of students from Gorkha ex-servicemen families, holds over 1800 students, with a higher female enrolment.

During the inauguration, Shrivastava emphasized the important development partnership between India and Nepal, highlighting the project as a channel to the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations. He reaffirmed India's commitment to continuing this partnership, focusing on the priorities of the Government of Nepal and the well-being of both countries' peoples.

This initiative is part of a larger scheme under which the Government of India has undertaken over 550 HICDPs across various sectors in Nepal since 2003, with 488 projects already completed. Specifically, in Gandaki Province, 59 projects have been initiated, including 11 in Kaski District alone. Furthermore, India has contributed significantly to the health and education sectors by donating 974 ambulances and 234 school buses to various Nepali institutions.

The completion of the Shree Bhadrakali Secondary School buildings represents a big step forward in enhancing educational facilities in Nepal, ensuring that students have access to a conducive learning environment. It also symbolizes the strong bilateral ties between Nepal and India, with both nations committed to the upliftment and development of their people, especially in critical sectors like education.

As the Shree Bhadrakali Secondary School embarks on this new chapter, the enhanced infrastructure is expected to play a crucial role in creating academic excellence and nurturing the next generation of leaders in Nepal.
