There are regular exchanges between the armed forces of the two countries

`Chief of the Army Staff General MM Naravane has proceeded on a visit to Israel from November 15 to 19. This is his first visit to Israel.

This comes less than a month after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's five-day visit to the country. Earlier in the year, the Indian Air Force chief had also visited Israel and discussed bilateral defence cooperation.

During the visit, General Naravane will be meeting the country’s senior military and civilian leadership where he will discuss avenues for further enhancing Indo-Israel defence relations, said the Ministry of Defence on Sunday.

The Army Chief will take forward the excellent bilateral defence cooperation between Israel and India through multiple meetings with senior officials of the security establishment and exchange views on various defence related issues.

Gen Naravane will interact with the Service Chiefs and visit the Headquarters of the Ground Forces element of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

Earlier in the year, the Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria was on a four-day visit to Israel from August 3-6.

"The visit of the IAF Chief to Israel marks an important milestone in the Indian Air Force and the Israeli Air Force's ties, with both sides reaffirming a shared vision of enhanced bilateral engagements & multidisciplinary professional exchanges for the future,” the defence ministry had said after his visit.

India imports critical defence technologies from Israel and there are regular exchanges between the armed forces.

There is close cooperation between the two sides on security issues, including a Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism.
