This is the third shipment from the US in a period of 2 days adding to India’s oxygen capacities

Continuing with their cooperation to combat Covid-19, the third consignment of supplies from the US with 1,000 oxygen cylinders, regulators and medical equipment reached India late on Saturday.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi confirmed the arrival of the third consignment through a tweet. This is the third shipment from the USA in a period of 2 days adding to India’s oxygen capacities, the MEA Spokesperson noted.

“Cooperation with USA continues! Another flight from U.S.A. arrives carrying over 1000 oxygen cylinders, regulators & other medical equipment. Third shipment in a period of 2 days adding to our oxygen capacities. Grateful to USA for its support,” he said.

India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, ahead of the departure of the third US flight from Washington DC, addressed the media along with Kurt Campbell and Sumona Guha from NSC, White House, a tweet from the Indian Embassy said on Saturday.

“Ambassador @SandhuTaranjitS addresses media ahead of the departure of the third US flight carrying medical assistance to India. Amb. Kurt Campbell and Sumona Guha from NSC/White House also present,” it said.

“As you are aware Covid is in an unprecedented situation and that we are facing a crisis in India. With the help of our friend and partner United States we are extremely grateful for all the help that has been extended. Today is the third flight going, two have already gone and many more would be going,” the Indian Ambassador had said.

He thanked the administration, starting right from top with President Joe Biden reaching out and assuring that United States will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with India.

Sandhu also commended the US Congress, US Defence and the people of United States for showing solidarity with India.

The first and second consignments of emergency Covid-19 aid sent by the US, including hundreds of oxygen cylinders and regulators, landed in India on Friday.

The White House has said the US would be sending supplies worth more than $100 million to India and "meet the urgent health needs of the Indian people".

In a statement on Wednesday, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) had said, "The United States deployed the first of several emergency Covid-19 relief shipments to India. Arriving in New Delhi from Travis Air Force Base on the world's largest military aircraft, the shipment includes 440 oxygen cylinders and regulators."
