India has been helping Nepal to strengthen its health and education sectors
India has gifted 34 ambulances and 50 school buses to health and education organisations across Nepal.
The keys to the vehicles were presented by Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava to Nepali Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai at an event on Sunday (July 16, 2023). Mayors, chairmen of municipalities, representatives of beneficiary organisations, political representatives and officials of the Nepal government, and social workers were present.
The Government of India makes these exchanges with Nepal on the occasions of Independence Day and Republic Day of India every year since 1994. Ambassador Srivastava said that this has been one of the long-standing traditions of the Government of India under the Nepal-India Development Partnership Programme towards the efforts of the Government of Nepal to strengthen infrastructure in health and education sectors.
He also highlighted the role this plays in the development partnership between India and Nepal, which has a long history and legacy, and touches the lives of people living in various parts of Nepal.
Nepali Minister Rai lauded the Indian Government’s developmental projects in Nepal and said that these strengthen people-to-people connectivity and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Since 1994, 974 ambulances and 234 school buses have been gifted by India across Nepal.
