The campus will help strengthen educational infrastructure in Nepal
In a significant development for the education sector in Nepal, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, inaugurated the newly constructed campus building of Adarsha Multiple Campus in Gajuri Rural Municipality, Dhading on Tuesday(Jjne 27, 2023). The event marked an important milestone in Nepal-India development cooperation, as the project received financial assistance of NRs. 41.20 million from the Government of India.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Shalik Ram Jamkattel, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province; Members of Parliament of Nepal, Rajendra Prasad Pandey and Ramnath Adhikari; and Karun Bansal, First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. The event was also graced by several social workers, political representatives, officials of the Nepal Government, and local community leaders.
In his speech, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his sincere gratitude for the Government of India's continuous assistance in furthering Nepal's development infrastructure. He also praised the historic and fruitful trip he had just taken to India, which had expedited Nepal's progress toward economic development and prosperity.
Adarsha Multiple Campus, a Tribhuvan University affiliate, was founded in 2006 with the goal of giving impoverished students access to high-quality education. With approximately 236 registered students, 85% of whom are girls, the campus primarily serves students from 18 nearby villages.
Modern amenities, such as classrooms, library spaces, a meeting hall, office spaces, and necessary utilities like power and restrooms, are all included in the recently built two-story campus structure.
This project is a part of the "Nepal-India Development Cooperation" and is a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) program. The grant assistance received from the Government of India has been instrumental in realizing this vision of a modern and well-equipped campus. The District Coordination Committee in Dhading has also played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of this project, ensuring that it meets the needs and aspirations of the local community.
According to the official press release from the Indian Embassy in Nepal, India has approved more than 544 HICDPs in Nepal, of which 480 have already been completed. The other projects are in different stages of completion or implementation. There are 105 projects total among them, with 5 projects, including 2 active projects, in the Dhading District in Bagmati Pradesh.
Together with this, the Indian government has also given 940 ambulances and 184 school buses to various hospitals, health clinics, and educational institutions in Nepal.
The press release added that the initiative is a representation of India's development relationship with Nepal and supports the government of Nepal's efforts to improve educational facilities.
