The first India-Japan Environment Week was organised in New Delhi on Thursday
Collaboration between Japan's G7 Presidency and India's G20 Presidency provided both nations with a rare chance to influence the future of the world, Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said on Thursday.
At a bilateral meeting with Akihiro Nishimura, his Japanese counterpart, Yadav, stated that during India's G-20 Presidency, Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) is one of the crucial tasks for all the working groups throughout many ministries and departments. Assuring Japan of India's support for Japan's G-7 presidency, he also asked for their support for India's G-20 presidency.
Both ministers spoke on a variety of topics at the meeting, including G7/G20 cooperation, LiFE, marine, and plastic waste, COP-27, and CBD 15.
Furthermore, Yadav lauded Japan's efforts to bring cutting-edge technologies to India. He emphasized that India and Japan can look into expanding their bilateral collaboration, particularly in the areas of resource efficiency, low-carbon technologies, green hydrogen, and circular economies.
Later, speaking at the first India-Japan Environment Week, Yadav said that in order to create a better world and a better future that leaves no one behind, we should encourage just and equitable growth for everyone around the globe in a way that is sustainable, all-encompassing, responsible, and inclusive.
Additionally, he made note of Furoshiki, an eco-friendly square-shaped traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that dates back to roughly 710 B.C., as well as the significance of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), which was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Furthermore, union minister Bhupender Yadav said that it is urgently necessary to direct industrial growth towards sustainable production and to serve as a vehicle for encouraging sustainable consumption. Lastly, both nations also decided to cooperate in multilateral frameworks to conclude the summit.
