The Indian delegation briefed Russia on its priorities during its upcoming Presidency of the UNSC
India and Russia have agreed to deepen cooperation on counter terrorism at the United Nations (UN) and other multilateral platforms.
Both sides held wide ranging discussions on issues on the UN Security Council (UNSC) agenda and recent developments at the consultations on United Nations related issues in Moscow on Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
"They agreed to deepen cooperation on counter terrorism at UN and other multilateral platforms. The Indian delegation briefed Russia on its priorities during its upcoming Presidency of the UNSC in December 2022," the MEA said.
The Indian side was headed by Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs Sanjay Verma. It included the Ambassador of India in Moscow, along with other officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Moscow.
The Russian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vasilyevich Vershinin and included other senior officials from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During the visit, Secretary (West) Verma also met with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Vladimirovich Syromolotov to discuss mutual cooperation on counter-terrorism related issues. He is also scheduled to hold discussions on Arctic issues with Ambassador-at-Large for the Arctic Cooperation Nikolay Korchunov, the MEA said.
