India has administered over 198.88 crore (1.98 billion) Covid-19 vaccine doses
India has administered close to 199 crore (1.99 billion) Covid-19 vaccination doses till now.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare till 7 am on Monday, India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 198.88 crore (1,98,88,77,537) doses.
This has been accomplished over a total of 2,60,96,863 sessions, which were initiated across the country.
India had reached the 100 crore (1-billion) Covid-19 vaccine doses mark in October last year.
India launched what has been described as one of the world's largest vaccination drives on January 16 last year. In the first phase, the drive covered doctors, healthcare workers, and frontline workers across India.
On March 1, 2021, vaccinations were started for those above the age of 60 years and those with co-morbidities in the 45-60 year age group. A month later, all above the age of 45 years became eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.
On May 1, 2021, all adults (18 years and above) became eligible to receive Covid-19 vaccinations.
The adolescent population (in the 15-18 years age group) began receiving Covid-19 vaccines from January 3 this year. Soon, administration of a precautionary dose of vaccine began for frontline workers and vulnerable people above the age of 60 years from January 10 onwards.
The Covid-19 immunization program for children aged 12 to 14 was launched on March 16, 2022. Till now more than 3.74 crore (3,74,90,962) teenagers have received the Covid-19 vaccine's first dose
Beginning on April 10 this year, Covid-19 precaution dosage administration for age group 18 to 59 years began, and till now, total precaution doses that were administered to this age group is more than 70 lakh doses (total of 7,042,667).
The total number of precautionary doses that were administered across all the age brackets has crossed 5 crores (5,00,78,016).
