Prime Minister Modi also met the Indonesian President and the Canadian Prime Minister in Germany
Meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Germany on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen expressed happiness on the resumption of negotiations on the Trade, Investment and GI Agreements between India and EU.
"President @EU_Commission @vonderleyen and I had an outstanding meeting earlier today. We discussed ways to deepen investment linkages, efforts to combat climate change, boosting digital cooperation and other important issues," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
According to the MEA, they reviewed India-EU engagements in various sectors, including digital cooperation, climate action and technology & innovation.
During the talks, Prime Minister Modi recalled President Von Der Leyen’s productive visit to Delhi in April 2022 during the Raisina Dialogue. The two also exchanged views on contemporary global and regional developments.
During the day, Prime Minister Modi also met his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau.
"As leaders of robust democracies with shared values, they had a productive meeting in which they discussed India-Canada bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen trade and economic linkages, cooperation in security and counter-terrorism, as well as people-to-people ties," the MEA said.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi and PM Trudeau also exchanged views on global and regional issues of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Modi also met Indonesian President Joko Widodo and discussed global and regional issues of mutual interest.
The Indian Prime Minister congratulated President Widodo on Indonesia’s ongoing G-20 presidency. Discussions also took place on India’s forthcoming G-20 presidency, the MEA said.
