The test reaffirms India's policy of having a 'Credible Minimum Deterrence' Capability
India conducted a successful training launch of the nuclear-capable Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) Agni-4 on Monday. It is said to have a range of 4,000 kms.
Announcing this, the Ministry of Defence said, "The successful test reaffirms India's policy of having a 'Credible Minimum Deterrence' Capability".
The launch was carried out at approximately 1930 hours from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha.
The successful test was part of routine user training launches carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, the defence ministry said.
The launch validated all operational parameters as also the reliability of the system, the ministry added.
Developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Agni 4 missile can carry a payload of 1,000-kg and can go as high as 900 km.
