India has traditionally enjoyed close and friendly ties with both Slovakia and the Czech Republic


External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Slovakia and the Czech Republic from June 2 to 6 amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and its impact on the region.

During his stay in Bratislava from June 2-4, EAM Jaishankar will meet with Slovakia's Prime Minister Eduard Heger and conduct bilateral meetings with Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivan Korok, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

He will also speak on the topic "Taking Friendship to the Next Level: Allies in the Indo-Pacific Region" at the GLOBSEC 2022 Forum. On the sidelines of this forum, EAM Jaishankar is set to meet with Austria's Minister of European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg, the MEA said.

While visiting the Czech Republic from June 4 to 6, EAM Jaishankar will meet with the Czech Republic's Foreign Affairs Minister Jan Lipavsk. The talks will give a chance to evaluate the bilateral collaboration between the countries in detail. It is also worth noting that from July 1, 2022, the Czech Republic will hold the EU Presidency.

Apart from having official meetings with the leaders of two countries, EAM Jaishankar will also connect with the Indian Diaspora, including Indian students, in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

India has traditionally enjoyed close and friendly ties with both Slovakia and the Czech Republic The visit will provide further momentum to bilateral relations with the two Central European nations, the MEA said.
