The ships will participate in joint exercises with the Oman Navy

Indian Naval Ships Tir, Tarangini, Sujata and CGS Sarathi called on the port of Salalah in Oman as part of their overseas deployment. The ships will participate in joint exercises with Oman Navy to further strengthen bilateral relations and maritime cooperation.

A tweet by the Indian Navy said, “Ships of 1st Training Sqn of Indian Navy (IN Ships Tir Tarangini Sujata & CGSSarathi) under Southern Naval Command, called on the port of Salalah Oman as part of the Overseas Deployment.”

“During the visit, the ships would be interacting with the officials from Royal Navy of Oman and various other dignitaries. To further strengthen the bilateral relations and maritime cooperation, the ships will also be participating in joint exercises with Oman Navy,” the Navy said.

The Sultanate of Oman is a strategic partner of India and an important interlocutor at Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) fora. India and Oman are linked by geography, history and culture and enjoy warm and cordial relations.

Last month, India and Oman reaffirmed their commitment to the close Strategic Partnership between the two countries during the delegation level talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.

The Ministers highlighted the high priority accorded by the leadership of both the countries to bilateral relations based on high mutual trust and respect and underscored that as neighbors united by the waters of Arabian Sea, both the countries have an important role in the maritime safety and security in the region.
